      Iran, Austria stress car manufacturing cooperation

      Iran’s minister of industry, mine and trade, in a meeting with Austria's Steiermark state economy minister Christian Buchmann, has underscored the need for the development and deepening of economic relations particularly in different industrial sectors including car manufacturing industry.

      In the meeting, Mohammad-Reza Nematzadeh expressed satisfaction over the implementation of nuclear agreement signed between Iran and the P5+1 countries and the ensuing lifting of sanctions.

      He expressed hope that new conditions would be conducive to the development of economic relations between Iran and Austria.

      Nematzadeh said Iran is seeking to join the international car manufacturing chain, adding: “Creating a platform and designing new cars are among issues which we will support. In this regard, the private sector can have an effective role in the development of cooperation.”

      The Iranian minister referred to the necessity of deepening of trade relations between the two countries, saying: “In meeting with the Austrian president [last year], this important issue was emphasized and one of the issues enshrined in the formulation of roadmap for car manufacturing industry and we hope to have proper joint cooperation in the car production industry.”

      Noting that joint investment and cooperation are among main objectives in the expansion of economic activities, Nematzadeh said: “Quality and application of the state-of-the-art and highest technologies are among issues which we have taken into consideration.”

      The minister also said that promotion of exports is another important objective, adding: “In this regard, we are making efforts to export one third of our products to international markets.”

      For his part, Buchmann welcomed broader cooperation between Iran and Austria, saying: “Austria is a European country enjoying high technology and innovation and it houses different research centers in car manufacturing.”

      He expressed hope that interactions between Iran and Austria would grow further in different industrial sectors.
